Festival of Lights

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated for eight days, to commemorate the victory of the Jews over the Hellenist Syrians in 165 BCE.

Following their victory, the Maccabees, sons which led the Jews in their revolt against the Syrian overlords, entered the Holy Temple in Jerusalem defiled by the Syrian invaders, cleansed it and dedicated it anew to the service of God. Then, in memory of their victory, the Maccabees celebrated the first Hanukkah. (Hanukkah is the Hebrew term for dedication).

Judean heroes, led by Judah Maccabee, were making ready to rededicate the Temple and were unable to find enough oil to light the lamps. They finally came upon a small bit of oil which should have lasted only one evening. Miraculously, this small amount of oil kept the Temple lights burning, not for one night, but for all the eight nights until new oil fit for use in the temple could be obtained. This is the miracle commemorated by the kindling of the Hanukkah lights.

Enjoy this wonderful Etsy Treasury happily featuring my new Chanukeah or Hanukah Menorah! Click on the image to view until Saturday, December 1st.

The author of this beautiful treasury is Weiswomen Creations - a crafty mother-daughter duo proud to offer a variety of handmade creations! Staci Rose Designs & Elle Belle

Stacey, (for some reason, I LOVE her name!) a fellow Etsy artist, wrote a wonderful feature about me and my work on her blog, Elle Belle.

And, I am VERY glad she chose to write specifically about these earrings...the 'Mother's Earrings'. Everyone I have made these for consider them an extremely special piece they hold close to their hearts. It's a fashion accessory! But, it's a little piece of their children, friends, grandchildren, lovers...probably one of my most cherished creations.

"I love wearing my mother's earrings. They're very special."
- Sharon S., Portland, OR

"Very beautiful earrings! Great quality.
I am very happy to have these! Thank you!"
- Lori L., Yuba, CA

"Staci, you've outdone yourself! These are gorgeous!!"
- Angelina K., Denver, CO

Here are other examples:

Elle Belle ~ for Chick Mommies and Pampered Babies
Elle Belle is the place to find handmade, boutique quality baby items that make being a Mom easier and more fun! It all started when I and a few of my friends started making things for our own children and realized that even though we each only had one or two things we specialize in, colaborating is more fun and makes for a shop full of things we all absolutely couldn't live without. Happy Shopping! Click on the banner below to purchase some of her fabulous functional art!

Creating fabric animal sculptures and mixed media pieces is where its at for me. I have been doing the arts and crafts thing since I was a wee child. Mom always said idle hands can make trouble. I started Darjeeling Paper, Ltd. as a way to showcase my paper goods, and to distinguish my works as a new product division of DemiGod. Viva La Independante!

Vanessa Kimball, Sincerely Yours.
I'm a graphic designer creating greeting cards and shop banners and avatars. I'm glued to my computer. I wonder if there's such thing as a design addiction. If you need any custom work done please contact me. I'd be happy to work with you.

http://signaturesterling.etsy.com
http://signature-sterling.blogspot.com
SignatureSterling...Untie the ribbons this holiday!
Welcome! SignatureSterling specializes in designing sterling silver beaded jewelry - bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. I use primarily sterling silver - not silverplated unless noted - for all silver beads, spacers, charms, findings, toggles, etc. I also use color and texture with genuine Swarovski crystals/pearls, lampwork beads, Czech glass, and semiprecious stones. My line of Buckeye (Ohio State) jewelry also features life-like lampwork buckeye beads.

French beaded flowers, beaded art dolls, and more!
I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. I am self-taught and have enjoyed painting, needlework, quilting, polymer clay and jewelry making. Most recently, I have found myself drawn to beads and have returned to the art of french beaded flowers. I enjoy making original, one-of-a-kind butterflies & dragonflies. All my items are lovingly created.

We crochet in both yarn and wire, creating jewelry, scarves, hats, etc. We are constantly looking for ways to expand crochet, and we love making custom items! We are updating our store all the time, so please check back often to see what new goodies have appeared!

51) DreamON
http://DreamON.etsy.com
http://DreamsAboutArt.blogspot.com
Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoy my shop. Daydreaming welcomed.
I always loved to cut, paste, paint and draw from my earliest memories. I value the presence of a recognizable subject in my paintings. I love it when the center of interest appears in the midst of background objects that aren’t so well-defined. I want watercolor to look like watercolor, and I want my paintings to have a painterly look, not a photographic copy. Therefore I am an impressionist, because I don’t want to over-control the media.

52) Catldy99 (Cat’s Paw Artifacts-Judy Richards)
http://catldy99.etsy.com
http://www.catldy99.wordpress.com
Judy Richards resides in Portland, Oregon - and makes lampwork beads and designs jewelry - unique and hopefully artful jewelry. She is always striving for new ideas, new shapes in glass. Judy is inspired by nature (flowers, birds) depicted in glass. She loves abstract lampwork most of all with layers of glass and complexity. She is always striving to that goal. Judy likes to laugh and make others smile with her work.

54) QuirkynBerkeley

QuirkynBerkeley Handcrafted Cards International.
Welcome to my handcrafted cards shop. I love papercrafts, and the process of making things by hand -- no computer. I started making cards for friends several years ago, who encouraged me to sell them, too. Almost all of my cards are one of a kind. I use recycled shipping materials whenever possible. Love paper. Love color. Love Berkeley. Love Etsy. Beyond that, my style is eclectic and I love to experiment. I get completely absorbed in engineering my varied creations for hours. Each one is a new and unique production, made of treasures from my collection of paper and ephemera, transfigured into a single piece held together by a little glue, a lot of ideas, practice and work, and most of all, a great amount of joy.

55) wittyworkshop
http://wittyworkshop.etsy.com

Valerie speaks of herself in the third person, well, because she is so darn shy!

56) cserpent

http://cserpentDesigns.blogspot.com
cserpentDesigns Artisan Jewelry and More.
At cserpentDesigns you'll find high quality artisan jewelry and more. I hope you enjoy browsing through the jewelry and other things that I make. Chanukah is around the corner but my Chanukea's are HERE!

I had these extra Hebrew building blocks and woke up one morning with an idea to create Chanukea's (Chanukah Menorahs)! As you know, sometimes the image in your head doesn't always become the same in reality. But! I am very excited to share these four pieces I created!

Each Menorah measures approximately 11" x 3" x 3.5", has cork on the bottom to protect your surfaces, and is signed and dated. The metallic blue menorah is currently for sale in my Etsy shop, but please contact me if you would like to purchase one directly from me: stacirosedesigns@yahoo.com!

PS! These are the only four I created!
When they've sold - they're gone,
so hurry and place your order!!!

Shades of Grey - a Few of My Favorites

And, then, the fog rolled in. The art included in this treasury reminds me of the San Francisco sky...but far more beautiful and far less daunting!

But, there's no denying the overwhelming mood! The ocean has always stirred me and so does the necklace that I created and is featured here.

You can view this Etsy Treasury by clicking the image until Thursday, November 22nd!

Eclectic Elements has been a wonderful supporter of my work, is a fellow EBSQ and Etsy artist, and I am proud to be a supporter myself! Click on the banner to visit this fabulous shop!

ugly, sombre, disgusting??

NO! Beautiful, bright and full of life!

I LOVE this treasury and it brightened my day to find one of my Signature Swirl Polymer Clay Pendants featured! With the fog rolling in and the nights creeping in earlier and earlier, this treasury was a tropical vacation! You can view this Etsy Tresury until Thursday, November 22nd - just click on the image!
